Great dominance of Sweden to expect.
Slovenian star Anamarija Lampic thinks so.
– I do not see that any other country will come up with such a strong team, she says.
Sweden has one of the world’s by far the best national teams in sprint on the women’s side. In recent years, the Swedish ladies have taken home the total sprint cup several times, and Maja Dahlqvist won this competition year.
The giant tribute to Sweden
Sweden also showed why they are so despised in sprint during the Olympics. In the individual sprint final there were three Swedes, and Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist won gold and silver respectively.
The great dominance also looks set to continue in the coming years. Several sprint stars, Maiken Caspersen Falla and Anamarija Lampic among others, will not compete next season and the latter does not see that many can threaten the Swedish ladies.
– Linn (Svahn), Jonna (Sundling), Maja (Dahlqvist), Johanna (Hagström), Emma (Ribom)… there are so many girls, so good Swedish girls, she says to SVT Sport.
“It’s really fun to…”
Lampic does not believe that any other national team can challenge Sweden.
– They are such a strong team, I do not see that any other country will come up with such a strong team. It’s really fun to see how strong they are, she says.
Anamarija Lampic herself said last week that she will no longer compete in cross-country skiing. The 26-year-old will instead continue to invest in biathlon.
