Alberto Dainese (DSM) won the 11th stage of the Giro in the sprint, Wednesday May 18 in Reggio Emilia, and signed the first Italian success since the start of the race. Dainese, who had never won in the Giro d’Italia, beat the Colombian Fernando Gaviria. Frenchman Arnaud Démare took fourth place.
