Breaking news: Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis, in his address to the US Congress, repeated his country’s claims on some issues regarding Turkey and made evaluations about the Russia-Ukraine war.
While addressing the members of Congress at the joint session of the Congress, Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis said that he is happy to be in Washington in honor of the 201st anniversary of relations between the USA and Greece.
Explaining that the relations between the two countries are shaped by defense, economy and trade, Miçotakis praised the military elements of the USA in the Greek islands.
Stating that “they will never accept a two-state solution on the island of Cyprus”, Mitsotakis claimed that Turkey had violated Greek airspace without giving names, and asked the US Congress to consider the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean in the possible arms sales to Turkey.
Noting that Russia’s attack on Ukraine was wrong, and therefore reacting to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Greek Prime Minister stated that he believed that “Ukraine will continue to exist as a sovereign and independent state”.
Meeting with US President Joe Biden yesterday, Mitsotakis also attended the reception given for the 201st anniversary of relations between the two countries.
