The Brant County Health Unit on Monday reported the area’s 10,000th COVID-19 case.
According to the BCHU, there now have been 10,001 confirmed cases since the pandemic started in March of 2020, with 9,844 of those resulting in recovered cases.
The Brant Community Healthcare System on Monday reported 13 COVID-19 patients in its care, with one in critical care. That’s down from 13 on Friday.
Of the patients admitted to hospital, 148 have been unvaccinated for a rate of 809.81 per 100,000 people, while 224 have been fully vaccinated for a rate of 196.89/100,000. In ICUs, 15 people were unvaccinated for a rate of 82.07/100,000 and 24 were fully vaccinated for rate of 21.1/100,000.
Also on Monday, the health unit reported 30 new COVID-19 cases over the past 72 hours, however, that number likely is underreported because of limited testing.
There are currently 88 active cases in the community but that number is also likely underreported.
There have been 69 COVID-19 deaths reported since the start of the pandemic.
There have been 333,857 total doses of the vaccine administered at vaccination clinics in Brantford-Brant. In Brantford-Brant, 84.48 per cent of residents, aged five and older, have received one dose of the vaccine, while 73.88 per cent have received two or more doses.
Walk-in vaccination clinics will be held this week at Lynden Park Mall (near Entrance 4 by Tip Top Tailors) Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm and on Saturday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm A clinic will also be held at Brant Sports Complex on Monday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm

- St. Joseph’s Lifecare (Magnolia), April 29, four residents and one staff member
- Participation Support Services, April 19, 23 residents and 15 staff members
- Brantford General Hospital (Unit C2), May 3, two patients
The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic and Grand Erie district school boards are reporting the percentage of absences for students and staff at each of their schools. As of Thursday, there were 15 active cases on Six Nations of the Grand River and 31 people are in self-isolation.
No one from Six Nations is currently hospitalized with the virus.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 1,648 confirmed COVID cases on Six Nations.
Exact numbers are not available but 55 per cent of the population has received a dose of the vaccination, with 51 per cent competing in their vaccination series.
There have been 24 COVID-19 deaths on Six Nations since the start of the pandemic two years ago.
On Monday, Public Health Ontario reported 1,122 people in hospital. Of those in hospital, 159 are in intensive care.
The province reported 1,061 new cases over the past 24 hours although that number is likely underreported due to limited access to testing.
There were two new COVID-19 deaths reported on Monday and there have been 13,072 deaths in the province since the start of the pandemic in March of 2020.
