A Warwick Township fundraiser involving selling handmade crocheted sunflowers and blue-and-yellow hearts raised thousands for humanitarian aid in war-torn Ukraine.
Members of the Watford-Warwick Horticultural Society raised $2,222.50 for the Red Cross Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund through their unique fundraiser.
Residents from as far away as Sarnia and Point Edward purchased flowers and hearts, said society member Holly Watson, and all leftover wool from the project was donated to Father Winnicki from Sarnia’s St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church.
