Episode 13 of the culinary competition once again required candidates to carry out amazing tasting experiences. Chef Rasmus Munk challenged them to defend or denounce a cause in a shock dish. For viewers, it was an opportunity to learn more about the candidates.
During this episode of Top Chef, Sébastien reveals that he was the victim of school harassment and wanted to denounce this phenomenon on his plate. For his part, Lilian, a former smoker who had health problems because of cigarettes. Louise made a point of denouncing the famine, Pascal the forest fires, Mickaël the conditions of intensive breeding which distort the quality of the meat. Finally, Arnaud wanted to support blood donation. By presenting their recipes in a pig’s skull for Mickaël, and in a blood transfusion bag for Arnaud, the two participants offered themselves victory and qualification for next week.
The second event, which saw Lilian, Pascal, Louise and Sébastien compete, was orchestrated by chef Dominique Crenn. The remaining contestants had to surprise her with seafood and shellfish. The chef had a real crush on Louise’s plate but also on Pascal’s, who easily qualified for the rest of the competition. The latter has also provoked the mockery of his comrades by maintaining the illusion that he was from Brest, while he regularly claims to come from the south of France. “What a myth!” even exclaims Glenn Viel by discovering the sequence.
Lilian and Sébastien each played their place in the pear-themed contest. And while the two dishes were particularly successful according to the chefs, it was ultimately Lilian who was eliminated from Top Chef this Wednesday. A real disappointment for the supermarket manager who hoped to reach the final. He wanted to apologize to Paul Pairet for not being able to offer him the final stage of the competition. “What are you apologizing for?” replies his team leader, visibly moved by the departure of his foal.
Lilian reveals, however, that he wonders about his future in the kitchen, since he had set himself the goal of reaching the quarter-finals of Top Chef to allow himself to resume his career in the kitchen. “You have everything you need to succeed, and that’s what I wish with all my heart, you are an exceptional cook, reassures Paul Pairet at the time of his elimination. I wish you the best for your future, and if we can help you we will help you.” The head of the purple brigade refuses to say more, “under the influence of the emotion of the departure” of his candidate. “And that’s pretty rare.”
If the Top Chef 2022 candidate has not succeeded in achieving his goal in the competition, viewers can be reassured: Lilian Douchet has not finally given up cooking, since he is opening two restaurants in May, one in Bordeaux (Lil’home), the other in Paris (Dame Augustine).

Since the creation of Top Chef, the show’s jury has evolved from season to season, with some chefs leaving the show to be replaced by new names from the French culinary scene. For the 2022 season, Philippe Etchebest (blue brigade), Hélène Darroze (red brigade) and Paul Pairet (purple brigade) return to the jury. On his side, Michel Sarran, emblematic juror of Top Chef, announced that he would not return to the show in 2022 by decision of the production. He is replaced by Glenn Viel, who has appeared several times on the M6 show as guest conductor.
Glenn Viel is the new member of the Top Chef jury. The chef of the Oustau restaurant in Baumanière (Baux-de-Provence) is coaching the orange brigade this year. “He has every intention of blowing it all up, commented Stéphane Rotenberg. Glenn Viel explains that he did not specifically ask to join the jury of Top Chef 2022, he was contacted by the production. “Of course, I jumped at the chance, he recalls. Top Chef viewers discovered a new juror during the 2022 season. If Philippe Etchebest, Hélène Darroze and Paul Pairet are still present, Michel Sarran has been removed from the program. The latter evokes a choice of production, without knowing the reasons: “It was a little violent, remembers the chef from Toulouse in an interview with Parisian, last September. I didn’t get an answer.” He is replaced by Glenn Viel who, according to information from Télé Loisirs, did not fail to contact his predecessor before filming, for correction.
On June 9, 2021, Mohamed Cheikh became the winner of season 12 of Top Chef. The candidate, who did the whole competition under the advice of Hélène Darroze, faced Sarah, from Paul Pairet’s brigade, during this final. He won 54.86% of the vote, against 45.14% for Sarah, which gives him a gain of 54,860 euros. Aged 28, this young chef has never hidden that he comes from a popular suburb of the Paris region (Fontenay-sous-Bois), and that he had to struggle to find a place for himself in the middle. . He has notably worked with several starred chefs, such as Eric Fréchon. He has also worked in prestigious restaurants, such as the Royal Monceau or the Shangri-La. Since the start of the competition, Mohamed was part of Hélène Darroze’s squad.
