In this case, they move from the status of employee to the status of company manager, which implies both more responsibilities, but also more administrative and accounting management.
What are the steps to become a private nurse?
The graduation
As with being a hospital nurse, you will first need to obtain your IDE diploma (Male nurseState graduate). This is obtained after 3 years of training in an IFSI (Institute for Training in Nursing) or in a public establishment (generally attached to a CHU) or private, like the Red Cross.
The training includes periods of theory and practical internships, in order to master the 10 skills defined in the nursing profession reference system.
Administrative aspects
Once the diploma is obtained, it is necessary to carry out a series of administrative procedures to obtain the status of liberal nurse. Here are the main lines of the actions to be carried out:
- Register your diploma with your Regional Health Agency (ARS). This allows you to obtain an ADELI number.
- Update your status with the ONI (National Order of Nurses).
- Take out civil and professional liability insurance.
- Open a professional bank account in your name, intended to receive your fees.
- Register with the CPAM of your practice department, in order to receive your Professional Card, which will allow you to send your invoices to the CPAM and to complementary mutual organizations.
- Within 8 days, Declare your start of activity to URSSAF through the Administrative Formalities Center (CFE) at your place of practice.
- In the following month, join the Nursing Pension and Provident Fund (CARPIMKO)

- Physical endurance: a nurse has a great resistance physical and can stand for long periods of time, lift heavy objects (or even people) and perform many strenuous tasks on a daily basis.
- Responsiveness: A nurse can react quickly to emergencies and other situations that arise. Very often, medical care is the response to sudden incidents and nurses must be prepared.
- Respect: Nurses must respect patients and their traditions. They are aware of the need for confidentiality and the existence of different cultures. And they respect the wishes of patients.
