From Manila to Paris, the story of Zita, a former victim of forced labor

From Manila to Paris the story of Zita a former

In France, since 2006, May 10 has been the National Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade, Slavery and their Abolition. Today, one of the forms of modern slavery is forced labor.

Fighting against all forms of trafficking in human beings for the purpose of labor exploitation, particularly domestic, has been the object of the fight of the Committee against modern slavery since 1994. It is at the Paris headquarters of the CCEM that Zita Cabaïs told her story.

The International Labor Organization lists more than 40 million people who are victims of forced labor throughout the world and approximately 130,000 in France. Among the least visible are those who operate in the private sphere: domestic workers who are victims of domestic exploitation. Three quarters are women.
