Roosa Koskelo was allowed to play all Stuttgart playoffs from start to finish, as she was the only libero on the team.
Sports reached in the morning Pink Koskelon, who won the German Women’s Volleyball Championship in Stuttgart on Sunday night. The 30-year-old Finnish Liberal was tired but happy after the championship party.
– I haven’t slept for many minutes at night, so I’m already awake at this time. The playoffs are pretty low and the final series is gone anyway, because the pace of the game has been so tight and we have traveled a lot, Koskelo explained to Urheilu by phone.
In Sunday’s fifth and final final, Stuttgart knocked down Potsdam straight 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-23) and celebrated the championship with 3-2. The championship was the second in Stuttgart’s club history.
– We celebrated quite a lot yesterday when we stayed in the VIP rooms of the hall, where we were almost until the morning. We celebrated matter-of-factly and surely the celebration of this is still going on. Here are some more sponsors ’events coming up this week.
In Friday’s fourth final match, Stugart cleared two matchballs and managed to tie the finals to 2-2.
– We got a big boost from Friday’s fourth final to this fifth game. We already had one leg in the grave, but we cleared out two championship balls and managed to win the match.
Tickets for the crucial fifth game sold out in half an hour. According to Koskelo, the support of the home audience played a big role in the decisive final.
– From the first ball of Sunday’s final, we saw that we had come to win. We played really aggressively and focused. Yesterday we had such a go that there are not many teams in Europe that can beat us when we play that way. The first two installments were completely sovereign for us to do. In the third set, we were in an 11–15 loss position, but we struggled to win, Koskelo glowed.
– It was a real victory for the team, we played really versatile.
“This really means a lot”
In addition to the German championship, Koskelo won the German Cup this season and silver was hung around his neck in the CEV Cup. Sunday’s championship was the 12th title of Koskelo’s career.
– It has been noticed from experience that everything is really small. For me, this was the fourth year here and we now won the German Cup for the first time. Winning the German Cup is certainly not an easy task to win.
According to the Finn, the good spirit of the team was behind the success story of the season.
– I have never played so well with a welded team in my career. This was our resource that we used when it came to a tight spot.
Although Koskelo has reaped a lot of success during his career, he elevated the recent championship to the highest.
– Yes, this feels most special so far. The season has been really long and heavy. Certainly the people around here make it special. This really means a lot to the club and the city.
Koskelo will also play next season in Stuttgart.
– Now you don’t have to start playing new games right away. Now I have to rest, as I was the only libero on the team and played all the games from start to finish. Surely this is going to take some time to rest.
