While Russia’s military intervention against Ukraine on February 24 continues, Russian President Putin sent a message to the leaders of the former Soviet Union countries as part of the 77th anniversary of the 9 May Victory Day. Expressing that their aim is to prevent the rebirth of Nazism, Putin said, “As in 1945, victory will be ours.”

In his Victory Day message to the leaders of the former Soviet Union countries, Putin said, “The common goal today is to prevent the rebirth of Nazism, which has brought so much suffering to people from different countries. It is necessary to preserve the truth about what happened during the war years, common moral values and traditions of brotherhood and friendship, and pass it on to future generations.
“THE VICTORY WILL BE OURS AS IT WAS IN 1945”
Addressing the leaders of the Donetsk and Luhansk Republics, whose independence he recognized, Putin said, “Today, our soldiers, like their ancestors, are fighting shoulder to shoulder to save their homeland from the Nazi filth. “The victory will be ours, as it was in 1945,” he said.
