– The weather makes firefighting difficult. A strong wind will ignite the flames and prevent them from being suppressed, authorities said.

In recent years, Siberia has suffered from large-scale wildfires. According to the European Annual Climate Report, last year fires emitted 16 million tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere.
