Christo Grozev said that he and his colleagues recently listened to audio recordings of an oligarch very close to the president. He claimed in the recording that the oligarch said it was better for the world if he died in the next few months rather than continuing his illegal war against another oligarch. Saying that many oligarchs share similar views, Grozev claimed that the Russian army would not comply with Putin’s order to kill opposition forces.

He said that the secret unit of the Grozev Federal Security service had sent letters to all branches saying, ‘If you hear that he has a very serious illness, we insist that you do not take care of him.’ “The issue here is not whether Putin is sick, but whether the people around him believe it,” said Christo Grozev. Because their prediction that he will die changes their loyalty to him.”
