In retaliation for the war in Ukraine, the European Commission is proposing a gradual EU embargo on oil and petroleum products purchased from Russia. Nothing is official yet, the text must now be validated by the 27 Member States. But a sixth package of sanctions is well and truly underway, a complete and gradual shutdown, spread over a period of 6 months, the time to set up other supply circuits.
