The project is called Morgen Mooier Maken and is a collaboration between the entrepreneurs’ association Centrum Management Utrecht and the municipality. The project has been running for over a year now. According to the figures, vacancy in the city center decreased last year, but the consequences of corona and high energy prices are not over yet. There is still too much empty, says Jeroen Roose-van Leijden. “Empty buildings have a huge influence on how you experience a shopping street or shopping area, so we prefer to have as few empty buildings as possible and a lot of activities in those buildings.”
