Bonga, court life, voice from the heart

Bonga court life voice from the heart

The Angolan singer Bonga returns with a 32nd album on the occasion of his 50-year career. A music punctuated by his joie de vivre, the memories of his thousand lives, his Angolan roots, the strength of exile, his commitments and the traditional chords of the semba.

Her voice, warm and a bit rocky, is one of the most beautiful in Africa. A singular grain capable of being playful or melancholy, and of reflecting the hopes, battles and cracks of half a century of musical commitment.

Bongas this year celebrates 50 years of a rich career of more than 400 songs, which will have accompanied the march towards independence of his native land of Angola, the civil war which immediately broke out, and the following 20 years until today today.

The legend of semba is the exceptional guest of VMDN. He comes to present his new album in which we find the traditional rhythms and the memories that have made him the Angolan of always, the exiled artist, and the citizen of the world that he has become.

“Kintal da Banda”, Bonga’s 32nd album, is available on Lusafrica. He is in concert tomorrow, Wednesday May 4 at La Cigale in Paris.
