The war between Russia and Ukraine caused important developments all over the world. Before the Russian attacks, the US moved the Ukrainian Embassy from Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, to the city of Lviv, on the border with Poland. At a press conference in Lviv, the US Charge d’Affaires Kristina Kvien stated that they expect the US Embassy to move to Kiev again by the end of May, if the conditions allow.

“We hope conditions will allow us to return to Kiev by the end of the month,” Kvien said.
“WE WILL NOT ALL BE BACK AT THE SAME TIME”
Speaking to the US press, Kvien said that not all embassy staff will return at the same time.
The US decided to close the US Embassy in Kiev on February 14, temporarily moving the few remaining diplomatic personnel in the country to Lviv just 10 days before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The White House announced on April 25 that US President Joe Biden has nominated senior diplomat Bridget Brink to be appointed as the new US ambassador to Ukraine, during the 25-year career of Brink, who is now the US Ambassador to Slovakia. It was stated that he previously served as a senior adviser at the US Department of State’s Office of European and Eurasian Affairs, and was responsible for Eastern Europe and Caucasus issues.
Speaking Russian, Slovak, Serbian, Georgian and French, Blink’s ambassadorial position must be approved by the US Senate. Ukraine has not had a US Ambassador for 3 years since former US President Donald Trump recalled former US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch to the country in May 2019. (UAV)
