The Polish Alliance of Canada, Brantford Branch 10, recently received a provincial grant that will help cover operating costs for its banquet center on Albion Street.
The $20,500 grant, delivered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, came from the Ontario government’s Community Building Fund. The grant allows the center to continue bringing cultural and ethnic events to the community.
“For 90 years, the Polish Alliance of Canada Brantford has been serving the members of our community by promoting the Polish culture,” Brantford-Brant MPP Will Bouma said in a news release.
“From teaching young children about their history, to holding community events and banquets, this non-profit organization serves to support traditions through displays of cultural dance and costumes. It is so vital for organizations, such as this one, to deliver and keep alive such cultural programs for current and future generations to come.”
The center hosts weddings and other celebrations, corporate meetings and fundraisers.
“The impact of this grant cannot be understated,” said branch president Zbigniew Zaprucki.
“This grant has allowed our not-for-profit organization to remain functional during these trying times. The federal and provincial grants that were received and the outstanding volunteer efforts by our members have permitted our organization to remain viable and to continue to serve our community needs.”
The Trillium foundation is an agency of the Government of Ontario and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. Last year, nearly $112 million was invested into 1,384 community projects and partnerships.
