20% of the society has it but they are not aware of it! What is venous insufficiency, what should be considered?

20 of the society has it but they are not

Venous insufficiency is caused by functional disorders in the human body, usually caused by varicose veins or blood clots. Again, it can be opened in one direction in the vein; It contains mini valves that allow the upward movement of blood. In the disease called varicose veins, these venous vessels enlarge, their diameters increase abnormally, and as a result, they lose their flexibility.

Again, as a result of the deformation of the valves in the vein and the enlargement of the vein, the valves not opening and closing sufficiently, the upward direction of the blood against gravity is interrupted and the blood that cannot return to the heart accumulates in the feet and pools (stasis).

The resulting stasis prevents adequate discharge of dirty blood from the tissues. Stasis in the advanced stage causes circulatory disorder, and wounds begin to form in the skin and subcutaneous tissues that cannot be fed adequately.

SYMPTOMS OF VENOUS INSUFFICIENCY

Depending on the severity of the disease, venous insufficiency may present with multiple findings such as pain, swelling, numbness, and restlessness in patients at different stages. The prevalence of various degrees of venous insufficiency in the population is estimated to be 15-20%. The widespread use of Doppler ultrasound has helped us to understand the importance and prevalence of the disease.

IT AFFECTS PSYCHOLOGICALLY

This disease, which is quite common, is also considered as an economic problem for countries, as it causes loss of workforce. Complaints and aesthetic concerns caused by the disease cause psychological negative effects on people.

TREATMENT OF VENOUS INSUFFICIENCY

The treatment is to remove the varicose veins especially in the superficial venous system or burn them with radiofrequency/laser method together with conservative methods including wound care and compression stages. Today, after safe surgical procedures, patients are discharged immediately after the operation and can stand up and walk, and continue their work actively within a few days.
