According to an official of the Afghan Interior Ministry, the number of people who lost their lives in the attack on the Sunni Khalifa Sahib Mosque, located in the west of the capital Kabul, is 10 according to official figures. It was stated that the attack occurred while the mosque community was gathering for dhikr after Friday prayers.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. However, many civilians have lost their lives in attacks in Afghanistan in the last few weeks, and ISIS has claimed responsibility for some of these attacks.
The Taliban argues that they have maintained security in the country since taking over the country in August and have largely eliminated ISIS’s Afghan branch. However, international officials and analysts warn that the risk of revival of the organization remains.
While most of the attacks this month targeted the Shiite minority, Sunni mosques were also attacked from time to time. At least 9 people died as a result of the explosion of bombs placed on vehicles carrying Shiite Muslims in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan on Thursday. Last Friday, 33 people were killed in an explosion at a Sunni mosque in the city of Kunduz during Friday prayers.
