In South Sudan, climbing towards a new civil war continues. On the evening of March 26, the first vice-president, Riek Machar, was placed under house arrest by the South-Sudanese security forces. An arrest that comes after weeks of tensions, punctuated by the arrest of some of its sympathizers as well as fighting around the city of Nasir, on March 4, where a regular army general had been killed by an armed group deemed close to Riek Machar.
