Brazil The Federal Supreme Court unanimously accepted the coup indictment of the prosecutor’s office against 7 people, including Bolsonaro, and approved the opening of a criminal case against them.
Five judges of the Supreme First Chamber of the Supreme Court voted for the adoption of the case after listening to the details of the investigation presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office the day before and the defense of the far -right leader.
Bolsonaro will be tried for allegedly leading Lula da Silva’s election on 31 October 2022 through military intervention.
Judge Alexandre de Moraes said in a statement that they have enough evidence that Bolsonaro was the leader of the “coup plan” leader.
“We have experienced a very violent coup attempt. A wild violence with the demand for military intervention for the coup. The resistance of the army and the air force commanders to the state of emergency measures, prevented the elimination of the legitimate government by coup.” He said.
Bolsonaro, who argued that the members of the Supreme Court had personal problems against him, claimed that Moraes, who investigated the case, made up a “unfounded story” to blame him.
Bolsonaro said that after the 2022 elections, they discussed possible scenarios to declare a possible state of emergency with the commanders of the army, but this was not contrary to the constitution.
