American representatives in Greenland knocked on the door and offered the residents of Nuuk to get home visits from Deputy Presidential Wife Usha Vance. But no one should have nipped on the offer, which should be the real reason why the itinerary has changed before the visit to the island and that the capital will be avoided, reports TV2 Denmark.
Initially, the idea was that Usha Vance alone would visit Greenland to see historical sites, learn about the Greenlandic cultural heritage and attend Greenland’s national dog team race. A visit to the capital Nuuk should also have been included in the itinerary.
But in connection with the Vice President himself announced that he too to go to Greenland, the White House stated that the plans for the trip changed to include only a visit to the US military base Pituffik located on the island.
Met by the cold hand
But according to TV2 Denmark’s correspondent in Nuuk, Jesper Steinmetz, the plans were changed for another reason.
– American representatives have been walking around and knocked on one door after the other in recent days to see if they would like to be visited by the Vice President’s wife. Everywhere the answer was the same: “No thanks,” says Steinmetz.
“That’s why the plans have changed,” he adds.
TT has previously reported that many Greenlanders have been relieved by the message that the presidential couple changed their itinerary and will no longer visit the cities of Nuuk and Sisimut.
