Modo has left SHL after the last qualifying loss to HV71.
On the other side of the Atlantic sits the NHL professional Victor Hedman and suffers.
-It feels really time that they leave, he tells Sportbladet.
Three Kronor captain Victor Hedman34, is now a large back General in the NHL team Tampa Bay Lightning. He, on the other hand, has a past in Modo. The Ångermanlander comes from Örnsköldsvik and played in the club’s youth team for several years before he made his debut in the elite series in 2007. After two seasons at home, the relocation went to the USA.
Hedman followed the Modo match
He still follows all Modo’s matches and he is really passionate about the club. Therefore, he has been aware of how bad things have been for the team this year. He sat in Tampa’s dressing room and listened to the decisive qualifying match against HV71 before he would play against Pittsburgh Penguins (which they won by 6-1).

-The match was still going on when I came to the rink for our own meeting with Pittsburgh, I heard them reduce to 3-2 just as I arrived at the dressing room. Then I hoped for a miracle, but unfortunately. Many teammates here in Tampa know how much Modo means to me and several who have no connection followed the end and … yes, it was tough, he tells Sportbladet.
Victor Hedman’s great sorrow
Tampa’s big victory against Pittsburgh was a small consolation in this context.
– No, a single match cannot be compared to what happened at home. It feels very giant tough that they leave, he says.
