Marketed as “pain -relieving bone healing cream” • Unusually elaborate strategy
A “pain -relieving bone healing cream” extracted from poison from bees, which strengthens bone health and “stimulates the immune system for self -heating”.
On Facebook, the bluff ads are spread – which seems to come from serious players.
That is not the case.
– These are products that we absolutely do not sell, says Jaana Logren Bergqvist, communications manager at the Swedish Medical Society.
The ointments and creams promise wonders and appear to be marketed by the Medical Society and the Swedish Medicines Agency.
But in fact, these are unusually studied bluff ads marketed by fraudsters who are in place on established and serious authorities and associations.
Those affected are not infrequently people with long -term pain chasing help for their problems.
– I can’t say exactly what it is for products, we have not done any analysis of them, but I think it is scam and bow, says Jaana Logren Bergqvist, communications manager at the Swedish Medical Society.
The call: Report everything
Many worried have contacted the Swedish Medical Society to double check if it is correct.
Some have bought goods – but have not received them.
The cases are reported to the police by the Medical Society, which also contacted Facebook to get the account closed. So far without any happiness.
– We urge everyone not to interact with the account or order the goods, and to register for Facebook, says Jaana Logren Bergqvist.
Is extinguished a page it pops up new
The Medical Society has contacted the Swedish Medicines Agency, which has also been used in the bluff ads.
Together, they share the concern that it is difficult to completely deal with the problem.
If you turn down a page, new ones will appear.
– It’s very sad. We do not want to trick people into buying these products and just want this account to disappear.
“We’ll do what we can”
On the part of the Swedish Medicines Agency, you are in contact with sister authorities abroad for the issue of scam ads to get more focus in, for example, the European Commission.
– We will do what we can to reduce the risk of people being cheated and in the worst case fall bad because they use substandard products and do not receive the care they should have, says Tomas Byström, investigator at the unit for medical technology at the Swedish Medicines Agency, to Medical magazine.
