The government wants to create 15,000 youth jobs

TV4 News can now tell that the government wants to invest SEK 250 million to create 15,000 jobs for young people. The investment is aimed at municipalities with high unemployment.
– This investment is about jobs for young people, about summer jobs and about jobs for young people who have difficulty getting jobs. We do this because we know that when it is an extended recession, it is difficult for young people to get the first foot in the labor market, says Labor Minister Mats Persson (L) to TV4 News.

Unemployment, and especially the one among young people is high in the ongoing recession and now the government wants to invest a quarter of a billion SEK to create summer jobs for young people. The government chooses to invest the money in municipalities that are particularly affected by unemployment.

– We have chosen to direct it to municipalities where unemployment is a little higher. Because it is more difficult for young people to find jobs in those municipalities. But there will be a lot of young people who will be part of this venture.

Applies to those from eight onwards

It will be the Employment Service that will be assigned the task of making contributions to municipalities to create summer jobs during the summer months. The grant is aimed at young people who have completed grades eight or nine, or after the first or second year in high school.

In addition, the young people who are covered by the municipal activity responsibility apply. The grant may be left for jobs in 2025 and may last for four months. The government hopes that 15,000 young people will get a summer job with the investment.

– We think it is important to get the first job. It creates a contact, an experience that you can then build on and then find another job, says Mats Persson (L)
