It was in the spring of 2024 that the police could arrest nine people who were in various ways involved suspected of fraud, robbery and money laundering.
In all cases, the men have been contacted by a woman through a dating site and later been robbed, drugged and deceived for money in their homes.
– There is a clear pattern in the crime where twelve unknown men have reported the incident in close connection with being robbed and then told about similar events and that they suddenly become very tired and fell asleep deeply, says prosecutor Emma Tillberg.
Prosecutor: They have been left alone and unprotected
The men have been cheated on money by the women finding out their mobile bank ID. They have also been stolen on, among other things, watches, computers, cameras, speakers, hard drives, tablets and mobile phones.
– Something that we particularly emphasized in the district court was that the men were left alone and protective in their homes without having any knowledge of the men’s health or how the drug or sleep drug would affect them, says Emma Tillberg.
Nine people convicted
On March 7, the district court sentenced the woman on the dating site to prison for 11 years and deportation. One of the assistants was sentenced to prison for 10 years and deportation. Two assistants were sentenced to seven and five years in prison and the others involved received daily fines and guardianship.
