Soft Skills,, Hard Skills Or both? A classification of LinkedIn published in France and in seven other countries around the world this Wednesday, March 19 offers an overview of the skills that professionals are increasingly adopting and for which companies actively recruit. According to the first edition of this classification established by the editorial staff of Linkedin News, customer service management leads the 15 most growing skills in France in 2025. This is ahead of data analysis, oral communication and artificial intelligence. Among the other skills sought in particular are adaptability, open -mindedness and stress management.
This classification unveiled by L’Express is based on the exclusive data of Linkedin, which relies on its 41,000 normalized skills with the OECD as well as on the activity of its more than 30 million members in France. The methodology used is based on three criteria: the frequency of adding skills by members, their presence in recently recruited profiles as well as the increase in demand for these skills in business job offers.
The high place of mastery of artificial intelligence in this ranking does not surprise Sandrine Chauvin. “By 2030, more of the two-thirds of the required skills will have evolved with the arrival of artificial intelligence. Training continuously in good skills has therefore become essential,” said the executive director of the international editorial staff of Linkedin, quoted in a press release.
The “rise” of “soft skills”
More generally, analyzes Sandrine Chauvin, this classification “illustrates two main trends that redefine the professional world”. On the one hand, “the development of technical skills such as data analysis, artificial intelligence or project engineering”. On the other hand, “the rise in power of Soft Skillsincluding adaptability, oral communication or stress management “. These psychological and behavioral qualities have” become essential to adapt to an ever more complex and perpetual development environment “, estimates Sandrine Chauvin.
These two major trends are also found in another classification established by LinkedIn, revealing the ten most growing skills in marketing in France in 2025. If first place returns to a Soft Skillopen -mindedness, second place, however returns to a Hard Skilldata analysis. The marketing strategy comes in third position, ahead of artificial intelligence and oral communication.
On LinkedIn, seven out of ten jobs today integrate concrete skills, recalls the first professional social network in France and worldwide. In addition, 50 % of recruiters now adopt a recruitment approach explicitly based on skills to find their candidates on the platform, says the professional social network. However, according to a study by censuswide for Linkedin between November 27 and December 16, 2024 with 22,010 active in the world, including more than 2000 in France, nearly a third of French assets say today not to know how to assess or enhance their skills during their job search.
