The United States will continue diplomatic conversations to reach a ceasefire in the Russian attack war against Ukraine in Saudi Jedda on Sunday, says US envoy Steve Witkoff to Fox News.
Witkoff gives no information about which parties the United States will meet, but says the US delegation should be led by Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and national security adviser Michael Waltz.
The message comes since US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in a phone call on Tuesday agreed to “immediately” start new negotiations on a ceasefire in the Russian attack war.
Putin has not agreed to Trump’s proposal for a full ceasefire, a proposal that Ukraine has already accepted. After the conversation, however, Moscow announced that Putin agreed on a 30 -day break regarding attacks against energy infrastructure.
