Sembrant bumped at the center plane but the progressive Tabitha Chawinga, once in a while shooting queen in Kvarnsveden, brought the ball with him and could rush through the pitch and end powerfully for 1-0.
“It was an unfortunate intervention of Sembrant,” says the German commentators in Dazn’s broadcast.
At extra time in the first half, Lyon had the chance to extend to 2-0 on a penalty, which was reviewed, but Lindsey Heap’s shot was cleared by Maria-Luisa Grohs who threw herself to the right and accounted for a sweaty rescue at the post.
“Her ending was clinical”
In the middle of the second half, however, Lyon could extend to 2-0. The team combined its way nicely and released in the penalty area, Melchie Dumorny put the ball into the net and the resting fans at Lilla FC Bayern Campus (capacity for 2,500 spectators) could rejoice. Dumorgy was named by UEFA as the match’s leader.
“She made an outstanding match and was very versatile. Bayern’s players struggled to stop her where she showed her speed and her end was clinical,” writes UEFA.
Ada Hegerberg was replaced for Lyon in the 71st minute, when Chawinga was also replaced. Sembrant was replaced in the 90th minute while back colleague Magdalena Eriksson played the entire match.
The return will be played next week.
