– Yes, what really happened? I also wonder, no, but it was a very good day with a hit on many levels: it was good skiing, good before for me and a bud that was eager to go fast, says Ilar to SVT Sport from Tallinn where she will run a city sprint on Wednesday.
Ilar has been seventh earlier in the season, the classic race over 20 km the day before. Before that, she has been eight and nine as the only placements top 10 in the World Cup this season.
– There was something there that I previously missed and I don’t know where it came from. Maybe I dared to go a little more offensively at the beginning of the race and maybe it resulted in me daring to chance a little grand, Ilar thinks.
Concern after the premiere victory
27-year-old Ilar experienced a similar form top in connection with the World Cup lead in November 2023 where she won the World Cup premiere in Ruka and then finished third in Gällivare, her only individual pallet seats in the World Cup.
– I was almost worried that Ruka and the beginning of last season was a one -off phenomenon, Ilar admits.
The top form comes in the eleventh hour of the season. During the World Cup, Ilar was rated in the relay team over 4×7.5 km where Emma Ribom instead got the chance in the team that took gold. Hear Ilar’s thoughts about it in the player above.
