Jonna Sundling won three gold medals and one bronze in the World Cup.
Then her hometown of Tvärålund in Västerbotten wants to pay tribute to her star by naming a street and a ski track after her.
– It feels very good and it warms the heart, she tells the local newspaper VK.
Together with the teammate Ebba Andersson27, was Jonna Sundling30, really World Cup’s great queen. They took three gold medals, but Sundling also managed to take the bronze in the skiathlon as well. It has started to talk within Vindeln municipality that the World Cup hero should have a street named after him.
– Naming roads is reserved for people who are no longer alive. It is usually so, but we are not so used to having such successful sports personalities. We may be able to introduce a new policy. It is possible, there are major achievements, says the chairman of the municipal council’s chairman Mathias Haglund (S) to Västerbottens-Kuriren.

It also seems that the local ski club Tvärålunds IF plans to name one of the ski tracks after the countryside’s big star. When Jonna herself hears about it, she gets touched and happy.
– I didn’t know that. It feels great to hear that they are active at home in the village and keep children and young people going. It feels very good and it warms the heart, absolutely, she tells VK.

The local newspaper also informs her that Vindeln Municipality is discussing whether it would be possible to name a street after her.
– Haha, they can do that if they want to. Not me against. I didn’t know either, it was fun, she says.
