Mohamed’s family found out that their 14-year-old son was murdered and that it could be linked to the Foxtrot network.
But when the mother called the police, they did not want to start an investigation – instead the information was dismissed as rumors.
– We get information that Mohamed died, that Mohamed is not alive. I say, please you can come and check and get the information. You can only ask these people. But the police do not want to, says a family friend, who was a interpreter during the conversation, to P4 Jönköping.
14-year-olds Mohamed and Layth were accused of taking two guns that belonged to the Foxtrot network and the boys were murdered.
But before the police found their bodies in a forest area, Mohamed’s family received information about what had happened. They then called the police to tell that their son was murdered in Stockholm and that the criminal Foxtrot network was involved. But the police did not want to start any murder investigation.
It tells a friend of Mohamed’s family who helped to interpret when the boy’s mother alerted.
– We get information that Mohamed died, that Mohamed is not alive. I say, please you can come and check and get the information. You can only ask these people. But the police do not want to, the friend tells P4 Jönköping.
The police: “There are rumors”
Instead, the police dismissed it all as rumors.
“We have nothing to go on,” says the operator of the police and continues:
“This will be hearing alarms. Do you know what hearing aids are for something? There are rumors.”
Mohamed’s family managed to get hold of a boy who had information about the murder. They handed over the boy’s name, address and recorded phone calls with him. But it didn’t help.
– They said they couldn’t help us with anything, says Mohamed’s mother to P4 Jönköping.
Instead, the operator urged the family to tell those who knew something about the alleged murder, to contact the police themselves.
Have brought internal criticism within the police
When Mohamed’s body was later found in a forest area outside Nynäshamn, the police went to the family to leave the message. But when knocked on the door, the family had already gathered to mourn.
– The police come later and say that Mohamed is not alive. We say, we already know. You don’t have to give us this information, says the family friend.
The police’s actions in connection with Mohamed’s murder have brought internal criticism. A police officer who later investigated the case reported the incident as a misconduct. A preliminary investigation against the police began, but the prosecutor concluded that crime could not be substantiated.
The head of those who receive the alarm calls at the police tells P4 that he does not want to comment on a single case.
