The Huthi movement in Yemen claims that they have carried out several attacks against a US aircraft carrier in the Red Sea. The US military, in turn, announces that the attacks against the Iran -backed group will continue.
The alleged attack on the aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman, the other in a day, is said to be a response to Saturday’s American air strike and is said to have been carried out with robots and drones, according to a spokesperson from the Yemeni movement.
The US military has not commented on the information, but an American source of defense stated earlier on Sunday that several drones and a robot were shot down at a safe distance from the US vessels.
Over 50 people are said to have been killed and about 100 injured in US attacks against Yemen last Saturday, according to Huthi -controlled health authorities. According to the White House, several huthile leaders were killed.
The United States has promised to continue to strike the Huthi movement as long as they threaten important shipping routes off Yemen’s coast, while the Iran -supported group promised to escalate with attacks against both American and Israeli vessels.
Since the beginning of the Gaza war, the Huthi movement has shaken global trade with a wide range of attacks against civil shipping.
However, since the ceasefire in the war began in January, no vessels have been attacked. But the movement recently announced that it is intended to start attacking Israeli vessels again due to Israel’s blockade of emergency assistance to Gaza.
