Elon Musk and Donald Trump seem to be inseparable.
At the same time, dissatisfaction is growing against the Tesla billionaire, even among Republicans-and that may mean that Musk’s time next to the president is counted, says US connoisseur Jacob Stenberg.
-This DOGE project has deadline July 4 next year. I am doubtful that their “bromance” lasts so long, he says in “News Morning”.
Tesla billionaire Elon Musk has taken an advisory role for US President Donald Trump. He also has a responsibility for the Dogte project, which will make cuts in the state apparatus.
But Musk’s first time next to the president has been bordered by controversy and he has been criticized, among other things, for a hand gesture that resembled a Hitler greeting, as well as a division of an X post this week that contained the sentence “Hitler did not murder millions”.
– You have to say that it is chaotic what is happening. There are new things every day and although Trump seems to have a clear agenda for how he wants to act and how they have planned his first time in the White House, I think Elon Musk does not really follow that agenda, says Jacob Stenberg, USA connoisseur.
It might make Trump act
According to Stenberg, support for Musk has dropped significantly among the American population.
– He is much more unpopular than Trump is.
Even among Republicans, where Musk has previously been appreciated, he loses support. Stenberg highlights a CNN measurement that shows that more people within their own party want to see less of the Tesla billionaire.
– I think that’s fascinating, because I think that’s what can get Trump to act against Elon Musk, that his own voters turn Musk’s back.
Then the “Bromance” is over
The DOGE project has deadline July 4 next year, but that the tight bond between Musk and Trump lasts so long is doubtful, says Stenberg. How it goes for the economy and how much load Musk will be will be decisive factors, he says.
– I don’t think they will last for four years. Maybe not even a year and a half. It is my guess, and based on how Trump has handled employees before so we should not be surprised if this “Bromancen” ends.
The president has historically been shown to be prepared to kick ministers.
-What we have learned from Donald Trump’s time as president, but also as a business leader and television personality is that everyone is interchangeable. Maybe not the family, but everyone else.
