What kind of report is that? In the year review 2024, Valve deals with the changes last year. Information about developer tools, player functions and data are shared.
For example, Valve writes that in 2024 they tried to focus on more demos. These would arrive well with the players and would be the opportunity to test the hardware compatibility, among other things.
At the end of the report, however, the figures from 2023 were discussed again: Valve wanted to know how many new players have stayed from 2023 and has looked at their data. The result? Over 1.7 million new players have gambled around 16,000 years.
By the way, there will soon be the successor to Subnautica on Steam:

In total, these titles attracted 1.7 million new Steam players. Their activities were evaluated, with a focus on the period from January 2024 to the beginning of March 2025:
In total, these players gambled over 141 million hours on Steam. That is a total of around 16,000 years – counted together. They also spent $ 73 million for new games and additional content such as DLCs. In addition, there are $ 20 million that were stuck in transactions in games. The new Steam players from 2023 have thus spent a total of $ 93 million on Steam during the tested period.
Valve concludes for itself that her mechanisms would work well for customer loyalty.
What else is in the report? Finally, Valve gives insights into the sales growth of games on Steam. According to them, the income of new releases on the platform has been tenfold since 2014. According to the graphic shown (via Steam), they could see constant growth. Only in 2023 there was a little break -in.
