Disco Elysium is considered one of the best CRPGs in recent years and is already available on pretty much any common platform. Now a mobile part should follow, but fans are skeptical.
What kind of game is that? Disco Elysium is a role-playing game from 2019, which focuses on a complex dialogue system instead of fighting, within whose conflicts are solved with skill checks.
ZA/UM UM, the studio behind Disco Elyisum,, however, fell after the success of the CRPG and meanwhile vulnerable several projects for the title as the “spiritual successor” of the role -playing game. You can find out more about the backgrounds from Gamestar’s colleagues.
The original creative minds behind Disco Elysium are on, but ZA/UM still has the right right – and the community is not always happy about how they are used. The studio recently accused the kind of greedy commercialization that is actually criticized in the game.
A new announcement is now also ensuring skepticism: Disco Elysium is to be reissued for mobile devices. In the reveal trailer you get a first impression:
Disco Elysium should address the TIIKTOK generation on the cell phone

What is known for the game? Disco Elysium’s cell phone version is not a simple mobile port, but a “complete reinterpretation.” As the responsible persons revealed, there should be new 360 ° scenes to put the player in the middle of the event.
In addition, there should be a complete voiceover. While core elements of the original role-playing game are long, philosophical discussions, the cell phone version should be designed to be experienced in short units.
With these changes you want to achieve “the Tikok user”, but at the same time offer existing fans a fun alternative for on the go. Disco Elysium’s cell phone version is “what audio books would like to be,” said narrative Lead Chris Priestman.
The game should appear exclusively for Android in the Google Play Store in the summer of this year, with the first two chapters playable and ad -free to play in order to give potential buyers a first impression.
Fans ask: Is that a bad April joke?
What does the community say? It reacts rather behavior. A user judges X: “The jokes write themselves.” On YouTube, “Wanna_Be_Desu” even wonders whether it is an early April joke.
In many cases, a quote from the original game is also reproduced: “Capital has the ability to absorb all criticism in itself. Even those who would criticize capital strengthen it instead. ” For the fans, the quote apparently illustrates that Disco Elysium becomes too exactly what it was originally supposed to criticize.
At the same time, players cannot avoid finding a certain irony. On YouTube, “Eudenius46” writes: “The body of the work of the original ZA/around, which is devoured by greedy vultures, is as ‘disco’ as possible, and I am glad that the new people behind the wheel understand the horror of history so well that they have decided to embody them.”
But not everyone has something against adaptation. Some players also explain that the port looks quite appealing and they are willing to give the whole thing a chance. Here, too, however, it resonates that it probably doesn’t feel right for many to support the project without the original creators.
Some indie games had huge success with mobile ports. However, the big difference to the original Dialogue Disco Elysium should be that the gameplay loop can already be experienced in short sessions in between-although the supposedly short game unit can also be used. Meinmmo author Max can sing a song about it: I’m not a mobile gamer, but 2 games tie me on my cell phone for hours
