The president of the RN Jordan Bardella wishes to draw inspiration from an idea of Elon Musk applied in the United States to try to save on state spending.
A Musk operation? Thursday, March 13, Jordan Bardella was questioned on the theme of budget cuts, on the LCI set. And the president of the national rally has his opinion on the issue, a parallel between the United States and France was quickly drawn up. As a reminder, many American officials are currently licensed by the Trump administration.
“We have to stop spending money in everything and in anything, we must rough up the bureaucracy of the state,” said the MEP. So, if the national rally were to govern, it would set up a “ministry responsible for government efficiency”, like Elon Musk in the United States. A name that significantly recalls the DOGE or “Department of Government Efficiency”, set up by the boss of Tesla since January denier across the Atlantic
A ministry entrusted to a business manager?
“What does this Doge do? Every day, we have people who get around a table and look line by line all the expenses of the state,” rents Jordan Bardella. In an attempt to improve state profitability, the latter therefore wishes to decide on the spot and attack civil servants. To occupy the position, “it could be entrusted to a business manager,” he said, without surprise, on the same principle as Elon Musk in the United States. In fact, such a strategy produces relatively limited effects. If the Department of Elon Musk boiled down of having saved $ 8 billion thanks to its method, in reality, it would be “simply” at $ 8 million.
But that’s not all, if Jordan Bardella wishes to draw inspiration from Musk, he also looks on the side of President Trump, especially concerning taxation. “If tomorrow we want to compete with Donald Trump’s America (…) then you have to do the same” in terms of taxes, he assured Thursday evening, always at the LCI microphone. According to him, a principle slows down Europe in terms of trade war: “naivety”, and a second must prevail in the future: “economic patriotism”. As a reminder, the American president threatened to impose 200 % customs duties on EU wines and alcohols if she did not withdraw 50 % taxes on American whiskey and bourbon.
