Greenland party leaders condemned the US President Donald Trump Speeches about Greenland’s merger with the United States.
On Thursday, Trump said he believed the merger would take place. Party leaders took a stand on Trump’s comments after meeting on the matter.
– We – all party leaders – we cannot accept repeated statements on the attachment and control of Greenland (the United States), the party leaders said in a statement published on Facebook.
Party leaders said that Trump’s use was impossible to accept with friends and allies in the defense.
Previously Greenland’s likely new Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen rejected Trump’s statement.
Nielsen Yesterday stressed that the Greenlanders should be given the opportunity to decide on their own future. Nielsen is led by the Democratic Party, which won the Greenland regional elections this week.
According to opinion polls, most Greenlanders support independence from Denmark, but not as part of the United States.
