Three months ago, the day today, the Cyclone Chido devastated the French Mayotte archipelago, located east of the African continent, causing a humanitarian crisis and immense material damage. The winds and rains of Chido also produced pharaonic quantities of waste and plant debris and construction that the island today struggles to evacuate, even though its waste management system was already saturated. Mountains of garbage cans which today pose health and environmental risks.
