Together with Homelander, Omni-Man is one of the most famous parodies on Superman. In the series Invincible from Amazon Prime, he is a mighty villain in the final of season 1. But originally it should be very different. He only got his current name because the publisher was afraid of a legal dispute.
Who is Omni-Man? In the first episode of Invincible you get to know Omni-Man. He is the Superman in the Invincible Universe. He can fly, is incredibly strong and gets much older than humans. It is originally spoken by actor JK Simmons.
Due to his appearance, he quickly became quite popular and, together with Homelander from The Boys, belongs to one of the most popular Superman parodies. Originally, his name should also be much closer to the model, but that has been changed for fear of DC and a legal dispute.

Image Comics didn’t feel like a lawsuit
What was the original name? In the bonus material of Invincible Vol. 1 Family Matters (via Screen Rant) Robert Kirkman shows, which is also known as the comic author of The Walking Dead, what the original names and designs of Invincible and Omni-Man looked like.
In the material there is a concept drawing of Supra-Man with the subtitle: Man of Stuff. This is a clear parody on Superman and his title Man of Steel. Supra-Man’s suit was originally not red and white, but blue and yellow, as well as the first costume of Invincible, which was originally called Bulletproof.

Why was the name changed? In the bonus material, Robert Kirkman also mentions that the name has been changed because the publisher of Invincible, Image Comics, was afraid of DC. He writes:
Another little known is that Omni-Man, when I was still called Bulletproof, was called Supra-Man. Image forced us to change the name because they feared that it could not like DC if we use a name that, if you express it loudly, can hardly be distinguished from your beloved brand figure.

Later the name of Bulletproof in Invincible was changed. Interestingly, Bulletproof still made it into the comics and later into the series as the character Zandale Randolph, who, after the incident, becomes a member of the Guardians of the Globe.
The 3rd season of Invincible ends on March 13, 2025 and then fans will have to wait for further seasons. The English Voice-Cast in particular is full of top-class actors like JK Simmons or Steven Yeun. However, the creators of the series still want to get an actor: a superhero series for adults wants to have an actor from Breaking Bad, but it refuses: “But we are coming back”
