A player wants to sell his PS4 Pro at Gamestop, but should in the end pay for the shop to take them

A player from the USA tried to sell his PS4 Pro to a Gamestop branch. But instead of getting money for it, he should ultimately sheet.

This story landed on the Gaming Forum Resetera. There, the user Solmisatesol tells in a post that he actually only wanted to scrap his PS4 Pro to a Gamestop branch in order to get money. He did not promise much, only around $ 70 – around € 64.

The cashier was really nice, but also said that he wouldn’t get that much money for the console. However, what the system spit out, however, surprised both before and behind the cash register: it should pay almost € 5 so that Gamestop takes care of the console.

Missing accessories pressed the price to the minus

How is that possible? There were two reasons that Solmisatesol would have made his PS4 per loss:

  • He wanted to sell the console without the HDMI cable, the controller and the associated cable
  • He was not an active Gamestop per member
  • The lack of accessories lowers the console to resale, so there is less money back. As a Gamestop per member, there would also have been a bonus when selling. This also pressed the price for the console down.

In the end, he says, Solmisatesol, of course, did not respond to this trade. By the way, when he tried to sell an Xbox One to Gamestop, it looked bad for him: there he should have paid around $ 20, i.e. around € 18.

In addition to malice, there is also understanding of the company’s practice. Ashes of Dreams writes in a comment under the post: “I understand that the exchange values of Gamestop are a meme, but this goes on your cap. Gamestop has to accept consoles in exactly the condition in which they can resell them. […] All missing parts of your exchange have been added as an additional purchase. And PS4 controllers are still quite expensive. “

Something like this could not happen in Germany – especially because Gamestop closed all branches in Germany at the beginning of the year. The company had had financial difficulties for a long time and has therefore withdrawn from many locations.
