The Finnish automatic carbine AK24 – which will replace the older and heavier AK5 in the Swedish defense – has been given a shooting ban, reports Dagens Nyheter.

The shooting ban has been introduced since a small number of AK24s that have been tested in the training of conscripts did not work properly.

– For some reason, there has been about a second delay between the trigger being pressed and the shot goes off. Until the investigation is completed, therefore, a shooting ban has been issued at AK24, says Philip Simon, senior advisor at the Swedish Armed Forces’ operating management, to the newspaper.

There is no information that anyone was injured because of the delayed firing, but the risk of wet shots increases.
