Leksand had everything in his own hands before the last basic series round in SHL.
Then suddenly everything went against them.
“We throw it away,” team captain Patrik Zackrisson told TV4 Play after the team missed the playoffs.
It looked pretty bright in advance for Leksand. In the last basic series round, they were set against Frölunda and in victory there a ticket to the SHL playoffs had been booked and finished. They also had two other lifelines.
Leksand’s fifth straight loss
As long as not Leksand lost, it would be the playoffs. Before the third period against Frölunda, the team led 3-2. But then came the gigantic breed. The leadership turned into a 3-6 sub (!) And loss. It was Leksand’s fifth straight defeat in SHL.
– Incredibly sloppy and nonchalant. Finds no words about how bad it is, the air goes out of us when we secure the contract but it was ten days ago, everyone else can handle it. It’s just too bad, says Patrik Zackrisson to TV4 Play.

If only Malmö or Örebro had lost their respective matches, Leksand would have reached the playoffs. But of course Malmö then managed to win against Rögle (3-2 after extension) and Örebro managed to take a point by Luleå (5-6 after extension). All three teams ended up at 71 points, but Leksand came eleven in the table because of the worst goal difference.
– We have everything in our own hands and throw it away, says Zackrisson.

The team captain was even angry when he then talked to Sportbladet.
– We are pissing it away. An incredible emptiness. An extreme disappointment. The error is not today. The error is in matches before against Örebro and Malmö, but we are pissing off those matches. We are just too small, lame, weak and passive, he says.

For your own part, there seems to be no extension with Leksand. Patrik Zackrisson believes he has made his last match for the club.
– It seems well. I have no idea. It feels incredibly heavy. I love everything that has to do with Leksand and is incredibly good, he says.
