In northern Sweden, spring winter is traditionally a high season for scooter skiing. But this year, the mild weather has come earlier than usual, which directly affects sales. In recent years, the number of newly registered snowmobiles has steadily approaching 9,000 per year. But in 2024, a reversal came – sales fell by 14 percent. A development that largely reflects the largest market for snowmobiles, North America. – Now there was almost no snow on the whole season last year there so there was an incredible amount of scooters left from 2024 that slowed down the sale, says Anders Sundling, snowmobile dealer in Umeå. Moreover, major changes to the market two of the world’s largest scooter brands are facing major changes that can affect the availability of new models in the future. Yamaha has announced that they will completely stop manufacturing snowmobiles by year model 2025. At the same time, Arctic Cat pauses its operations after all planned production was completed during the first half of 2025. In Sweden, the used market has partly kept sales up. – It has been great this year for us and almost everything I get I have some customer who wants, says Anders Sundling. The hope is until the winter of 2025 how the next season develops depends entirely on whether winter makes a long -awaited comeback. Dealers and scooter enthusiasts keep their thumbs – but the forecasts are still uncertain. – We must hope for a huge setback for the spring, says Anders Sundling.
