When News24 talked to Ella Halvarsson, she was clear, she is not related to Calle Halfvarsson. Now comes the turn – she is certainly related to the ski profile.
In a Facebook group shared the profiled genealogist Leif Mörkfors new information regarding the biathlon Ella Halvarsson And the cross -country skier Calle Halfvarsson.
“We are not related”
When News24 Talked to Ella Halvarsson in the fall of 2024 we asked her what it really is, is she related to Calle Halfvarsson? The answer was clear.
– I’ve got that question many times actually, but no. We spell a little different too, she said, continuing:
– You think, we are from Dalarna and are called Halvarsson. So I understand that people wonder.
When asked whether the two winter athletes have had contact or not, she answered the following:

It is when News24 reaches Leif Mörkfors that it clears, Halvarsson and Halfvarsson are certainly related – even though they do not spell the same.
But who is really the genealogist, and why do you recognize the name?
– I have been a full -time genealogy for a number of years. I also do some TV programs, including “it sits in the walls”.
He comes into the areas that have caved a little extra in:
– I have Dalarna, where I come from, as a special interest and have been researching for almost 50 years. The place that is closest to my heart is Malung and Venjan.
Now to the important thing – is the winter sports profiles related? How close are they? And how did Mörkfors come into this particular track?
– It was after I noticed that Ella Halvarsson said that she was not related to Calle Halfvarsson. Then I thought, Halvar is a fairly unusual name and generally occurs only in northern Dalarna, Värmland and Dalsland. Because Ella comes from Borlänge, I thought that it is not so far between Borlänge and northern Dalarna, she may be related to Calle. I quickly discovered that both came from Venjan’s parish. Then I started sketching on a family tree, and then put it out.

Not related by the surname
A coincidence in the case is that it is not the surname that binds them together. Which Mörkfors further explains:
– Calle and Ella’s father are both called Halvarsson, but they spell different. One step further back, then only Bengt Halvarsson remains, then the “Halvars” name disappears from both sides.
– The name Halvarsson is thus not their connection, it comes from other branches.
