Ebba Andersson would prefer to forget the last World Cup day in Trondheim.
When she went for a fourth gold medal, she suddenly fell before the rally.
-Right then and then, Ebba doesn’t think about the entire World Cup, she just thinks about that race, says her partner, national team more Gustaf Berglund, to the Östersund Post.
World Cup gold in skiathlon (20 km), 10 km classic and in relay. Ebba Andersson27, went against an absolutely perfect world championship in Norwegian Trondheim. She was one of the four who fought for a last long-awaited gold in the women’s first World Cup five mile ever when the accident suddenly occurred.
Ebba Andersson’s words after the World Cup five mile
When Ebba went in behind Frida Karlsson25, in the last uphill she hooked into the ski of the national teammate and fell over.
– This is something that can happen in the heat of the moment, but it is sad that I am in the snow and that it is Frida who goes in goal as a world champion instead. I thought I would go right, because with the conditions we had today we saw that it really paid off to go on the edges. Unfortunately, Frida had thought the same thing, and I went on the slopes as a consequence of that, Ebba tells the Norwegian site Langrenn.com.

In the end she went in goal like four behind Frida, Therese Johaug36, and Heidi Weng33. There was thus no medal on the last World Cup distance. Something that grieves Ebba Andersson. In the target area, her partner stood Gustaf Berglund26, and received her.
– It looked very good until the last sprint hill. Very snowy that the case happened so late in the race. I had really been looking forward to that fight. Right then and then, Ebba doesn’t think about the entire World Cup, she just thinks about that race. But with a little more distance, she will land in that she can be very, very satisfied, he tells Östersunds-Posten.
Gustaf Berglund’s feelings right after the World Cup
Gustaf, who himself is a national team skater and was a reserve for the World Cup, says that Ebba was terribly disappointed when she came to him in the goal area. It is a feeling that is still deep within her, even though she won three golds during the championship. He says, on the other hand, that they will soon be able to look back at the World Cup and feel really satisfied.
– Absolutely, we will. I know what this means to her. She has put in a lot of work and training. It is very, very well deserved. It’s no coincidence that she goes home with three golds, he says.

He himself was called in to the men’s five miles on Saturday as a reserve. He did it all with good looks. Gustaf Berglund came eight and was really happy afterwards. It was the best race of his life and he even managed his little incredible goal to be top ten. An ambitious goal for someone who made the World Cup debut and who has never been top ten in the World Cup ever.
– That’s all I could have dreamed of. Become eight on a five -mile, in front of that audience too. Which framing. It was a fantastic pressure. All parties on the track were beset with people. I’ve never been to it before, he tells ÖP.
Congratulations to Gustaf for an extremely well -executed race! Good that you can join and comfort Ebba now even after her boring ending at the championship. In retrospect, she will hopefully be able to look back at the World Cup with great joy and pride.
