The 29-year-old Van de Zandschulp was working on his best tournament of the season on the hard court of Indian Wells, while he already seemed eliminated in the second round of the qualifications. The number 2 in the Netherlands was still admitted to the main tournament as ‘Lucky Loser’, in which he reached the third round at the expense of Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic.
