Wictor Petersson took an unexpected silver in the indoor European Championships and became the first male bullet to take a championship medal since Ricky Bruch 54 years ago.
“It’s crap,” he says.
The 26-year-old Skåne Wictor Peterssonwhich, among other things, had injury problems in recent years, bumped 21.04 meters in the second last round of the indoor European Championships.
– Taking a medal after five difficult years feels fantastic. I have only stood and stomped for the last three years, Petersson tells SVT.
He started the final by bumping 20.88 in the first round.
– It was important. We talked about having a pretty good shock in the first, then you can relax, he says.

Although Henriksson finished 21st among the 24 semi-finalists, she hopes for a ticket to the indoor World Cup in Nanjing in a couple of weeks. The last time for the European Championship final, Karolina Manasova, the Czech Republic, had 7.10.
– The shape is upward. I know I’m running fast. A place in China, then I know I can run down to 7.20 hours, says Henriksson.

– We have to wait and see, says Henriksson.
