Engla Nilsson stood for a completely unlikely debut at the indoor European Championships in athletics.
The 19-year-old took a bronze medal in high jump and was heavily praised by the union captain Kajsa Bergqvist afterwards.
– It is the most sensational medal I would say in the modern history of athletics, she tells SVT Sport.
Not many people knew Engla Nilsson19, before the Peace Sports European Championships in the Dutch Apeldoorn started. Now the high jump has realized for real. It became an European bronze directly in the debut.

Already in the qualification, Engla stood for a personal record when she jumped 1.89 m. It was enough for her to go to the final – and well there she continued to surprise! – I talked to my guy before and he said, “Try not to come last”, haha. And I didn’t, she says.
