It is believed that the Eastern Air Command, a branch of the Ukrainian Air Force, shot down the jet. It was reportedly hit near the town of Balakliia, 46 miles southeast of Kharkiv, which is now under Russian control. It is unknown if the pilots survived.

The video was shared by Ukraine’s Center for Strategic Communications (Stratcom) in Kiev, early Monday, with the statement that “Ukrainian defenders shot down an enemy plane in Kharkiv region.” Eastern Air Command confirmed the attack on its official channels and announced that according to preliminary data, they thought the aircraft was a two-seat fighter-bomber Su-34.
